My partner wants to invest together but I'm nervous about us mixing our finances?

Hi people, my partner (31M) and I (29F) have been together for about three years, and we?re generally great at communicating. Recently, he brought up the idea of combining finances to invest in something like property or stocks. On paper, it sounds like a good idea?we both want to plan for the future?but I?m nervous about mixing money when we?re not married.
I have savings of around ?15,000, mostly in ISAs, and he has a bit more (around ?20k), plus he?s really into stocks and crypto. Meanwhile, I?m more conservative with money. To make things trickier, I recently had a streak of luck?I won ?2,000 on a sports betting app earlier this year. It?s sitting in my savings, but I feel weird bringing that up since I don?t think he even knows I occasionally gamble.
I trust him, but I?ve heard horror stories about things going south when couples mix money before they?re married. Am I being overly cautious, or is this something worth pausing to think about more? How do I approach this conversation without making it sound like I don?t trust him?
tl;dr my partner wants to invest together but I dont feel like it!
