ELI5: How does the rabies virus "force" infected animals to avoid water?
I learned that infected animals stay away from water because the virus lives in the saliva glands and because of that animals avoid drinking water so the virus can reproduce in peace.
But how does a virus stop animals from hydrating?
Source.
