I [27F] wanted to buy my son [5M] a video game in a couple of weeks. My current boyfriend [28M] ex wfie is threatening access to his son [7M] if I do because my ex didn't buy him a video game.

I need some advice here because I really do feel no matter what I do it doesn't end well. My son has been well behaved for the past couple of months. I've had no real issues when it comes to tantrums or anything like that. He's done really well in his gymnastics class. He's really started to like this show called Ben 10 on Cartoon Network. It's not the Ben 10 I had grown up, but it's more for kids. I saw a video game coming out for it and I wanted to buy him it as a surprise. I try not to spoil him, but I just felt like he deserved it.
My boyfriend let this slip to his son in a random conversation. His son started saying that he wanted a video game. This a day after he got into a fight with a student at his school. My boyfriend said no to his son, and his ex wife is not happy with either of us. She said that if my son get's a video game than their should as well. She's threatening to restrict access to him over this. She always does this. If her son doesn't get what he wants it's world war 3.

tl;dr: I don't want to cause more drama between boyfriend and his ex, but I want to get son video game.

He's your son - get him what the hell you want, and everyone else can just go suck pebbles.
