More Design Improvements coming to Dating.mobi! (by Andres)
Hi Folks,
As I'm sure some of you have already noticed, I've been working hard on improving the design of Dating.mobi to make it more user-friendly for folks with smartphones while still keeping it user-friendly for folks with older phones. It's a delicate balance, so it's not easy.
As you notice these design changes, please give me your feedback on this thread if something is not working correctly. I also welcome any of your suggestions on how to improve the design of the site.
Once I've finished the design improvements, I'll report back here.
Thank you for your patience as I push through these changes!

Not sure I care for the home button now tho because it don't show the current members that are online currently and what they're posting to like the past activity feed that popped up as soon as you logged on. Bring back that activity feed feature
Very happy to hear, thanks for your Feedback!
Glad it's looking good so far. Regarding the App, that's still a long way away unfortunately as it's really complicated to single-handedly develop an App for every version of Android, iOS, etc while still building the site. If I ever get around to doing an App, it will most likely be a simple App that just loads the site, so I want to focus on making the site as user-friendly as possible. As for getting more users here, that's the next step. As soon as I'm done redesigning the site, I'm going to start doing something I've never tried before: advertising. Before that, I just want to make sure the site is very inviting and user-friendly so that when those folks come, they stay.
The Home button has gone back to its roots and takes you to the original Home Screen which is the Command and Control Center of the site for all users where they can access all features of the site as well us update all their stuff. Regarding the Activity Feed, it hasn't gone anywhere and is still the first page everyone sees when they log-on and press continue. As for where to find it, just press the "Online" link in the new Navigation Bar at the top and bottom of any page on the site and you'll find its new home.
Please keep the feedback coming, folks! Thanks!

@Andres:
I do not understand why when wanting to see who's online that it goes to the activity feed page instead of just showing who is online... cause for me all it shows is the "American users" who have recently logged instead of all the users.

Good point, John. I do think the Activity Feed is a lot more useful than the original Online Now feature as it provides a lot more info about what the online users are actually doing on the site. This distinction will become even greater once we have a lot more users. That's why it has replaced the original Online Now feature.
That being said, I understand what you are saying about the usefulness of the original Online Now feature and how it shows folks from other Countries as well.
What if on the Activity Feed / Online page I added a link called "Show All Countries" next to the "Only Show Content" link? That way, when you wanted to see the Activity from users in all countries, you just had to click that link.
Is that good enough, or would you guys still like a link somewhere to the original Online Now feature?
Please let me know so I can figure out the best way to solve this for you guys.
P.S. You can still access the original Online Now feature via this link (which you can bookmark to access directly).

I think for me the show all countries will be ok. But the activity feed shows users as being online when they really aren't, so I feel the online now icon shows who truly online at that very moment instead 3 hrs ago. I believe the online now icon is more correct the way it was. Either way, we all will get used to the way you choose to set up the formats.

Sounds good, I'll add that right now.
Because the Activity Feed is the most active table in the Database due to being updated every time any user does something on the site, I had to sacrifice checking whether each user is actually online or not when displaying the results in order to keep that page loading quickly. The issue you describe is only a problem when we have low activity, because once we start advertising and filling the site with users and activity, the Online Now activity feed will be updating so quickly in real-time that the users it shows will be online by default. For example, instead of seeing Activity from hours ago, your "Online Now" page will be filled with Activity from seconds ago from users who are obviously online right there and then. This is why the Activity Feed assumes users are online by default. The downside is that it does not reflect the full reality when we have little activity, but this will change as soon as we start advertising, so please bear with me until then. In the meantime, you can see how long ago the users activity was on the feed to roughly guesstimate whether they are online or not.

Ok I understand your Idea better now that you explained it how your system works best from your end of the site. I like the way you're a "hands on" owner, asking for our output of your Ideas on how to make this site better for everybody. I never heard of a dating site owner who would do that, they just make the changes & the users would just have to live with the way things are.
