Got milk? (by WalkSoftly)
Expect your food prices, especially dairy products to rise drastically in the next few months. California, a major U.S. dairy producer is going through a drought it seems....and the drought is making it extremely hard on farmers growing vegetables....some of which is converted to cattle feed. CA is no stranger to droughts....hell, alot of it is desert....so why is this drought different? A fish...yes, a fish. Kind of ironic isnt it? The Delta Smelt is a tiny endangered fish that lives in a part of CA not routinely effected by droughts, and supplies much of CA's rich agricultural area with water via CA's vast aqueduct system. The problem occurs when the systems pumps are turned on and these little fishies are sucked into the pumps and ground into a bazillion pieces...a hippies, oops I mean The Enviromental Protection Agencys, worst nightmare! Of course, CA could build new water storage facilities (something its hasnt done in 30 years) to collect rainwater and run-off water...like from that record rainfall they had just three years ago...but nah....lets continue to let the hippies, oops again, the EPA, continue to make dumb ass decisions. But its ok....my heart will flutter as I drink my $2 glass of milk....knowing that a dumb ass 3 inch fish is happily living out his year long life cycle.
