Late at night, alone in my room,
Surrounded by darkness, the Sun and the Moon...
I can't help but dream of happily ever after,
My soul is warmed by childrens gleeful laughter,
Playing in the garden, with their adoring father,
The falling leaves seem to be no bother.
I can't help but feel as though I belong,
Then the children see me, and call out "MOM!"
My heart skips inside of my chest, my steps faulter,
She runs and leaps into my arms, our beautiful daughter.
Cocoa curls, shining in the light,
Somehow this just feels so right.
Her big brown eyes, teary from cold weather,
Look to me to make everything better.
And holding tight, grasping your hand,
Our handsome son, our precious little man.
Bold brown hair, his light hazel eyes,
A smile from him could clear the skies.
I bend down to take them in my embrace,
With butterfly kisses they cover my face.
I feel a hand on my arm, and I'm pulled to my feet.
The look in your eyes, the touch of skin, feels so sweet.
How did we get here? How did this start?
I've never been more aware of my heart...
You kiss my lips, and there is a bright flash of light,
It's dark again, and slowly I realize...
I'm home again, and it's the middle of the night.
I roll over in bed, to find no one there.
This is so cruel, so hard to bare.
I feel myself crumple, a piece of me dies.
I lay my head down, and start to cry.
All a dream, the whole exquisite thing, false from begining to end.
Between the tears, I hear the door and you walk in.
"Baby, what's wrong?" You ask, as you wipe away the tears.
I tell you the story..."Shh, it's ok. I'm here."
I ache for our children, or garden, for it all.
I hear you whisper as asleep I fall...
"Don't worry baby, I'll give you it all..."
