Everyone will soon be required to Confirm their Mobile Phone Number to use the site (by Andres)
UPDATE April 19, 2017: This requirement has been temporarily removed.
UPDATE May 18, 2013: The issue of African Scammers using fake US profiles to scam our US users has been virtually resolved once and for all.
UPDATE May 12, 2013: This requirement has just gone live, instantly making Dating.mobi one of the safest dating sites on the planet.
Hi Folks,
Just a quick heads up to say that very soon everyone will need to confirm their mobile phone number on the site in order to access it, so if you haven't already done so, please do so now to avoid an interruption in your service later on.
This will be our biggest step yet towards the reduction of fake profiles and scammers on the site. Until now, this requirement only existed to post in the Forums, but will soon be a site-wide requirement to register and use any feature of the site.
Since every active account will be tied to a real phone number in the country the user is from, it will make it significantly more difficult for people to create fake profiles and for banned users to come back.
We've already provisioned new international numbers in Australia, Canada, Austria, South Africa, and Hong Kong, on top of our existing US, UK, and Swedish numbers. We will soon be adding an Irish number as well. Users in those countries will have local numbers to confirm their phone numbers with, and all of those numbers (except the ones from Canada and South Africa) are capable of receiving SMS/Text Messages from international numbers as well. So if you are able to send SMS/Text Messages, you should not have any problem confirming your phone number with any of those numbers.
Inevitably, some will have issues sending SMS/Text Messages to our numbers, or won't have SMS enabled on their mobile plans, and for those users we will eventually offer a paid alternative where we send an SMS/Text Message to them in order to confirm their phone numbers.
This new requirement will be an important and powerful step towards making Dating.mobi the safest dating site on the web.
Stay tuned!

Just a suggestion but I think this notice should go out to everyone's inbox since not everyone especially non verified phone members read the forums. Just my thought, so they're not surprised when they can't access their account
@Andres: great idea. You know one guy here once claimed he had no phone and i should send money. But if this happens,'will know that everyone here has a phone and can send msg. Great idea
I created a Status Alert for users that haven't confirmed their number yet letting them know of the impending requirement with a link to this thread, a link to confirm their number, and a third link to dismiss the message. This Status Alert message is only shown to users who have not confirmed their number (those who have already confirmed it will only see the notice once when they login to make sure they are also made aware of this important change).
