I would like to know why you people block email addresses from being shown when you write to someone and want to give them your email address. it does not bother me to give out my email address if i want to. i want to be able to give my email address to whoever i wish.

We do this primarily to avoid advance fee fraud and spam.

Scammers normally give out their e-mail address to get users off the site where they can control the communication with their victim. That is primarily why we do not allow e-mail addresses to be exchanged via our messaging system. The messaging system already does the same function as e-mail, so communicating via e-mail should not be necessary unless a user has ulterior motives.

Keep in mind, however, that we do permit the exchange of phone numbers. That's primarily because a scammer claiming to be in one country when in fact they are on an entirely different continent will have difficulty maintaining that sham via a phone call. For example, if a potential scammer claims to be in the US but sends you a phone number that is clearly in another country, you will immediately know to suspect that user. On top of that, a voice conversation will reveal the true gender of the person and their accent could reveal their actual location. However, with e-mail, there is no way of knowing where the user actually is, what their gender truly is, or what they sound like, which is why we do not allow it as it facilitates scammers too much.

This is also why we do not allow users to post personal contact information directly on their profiles. Otherwise, a scammer could create a fake profile of an attractive person with an e-mail address and phone number, and they wouldn't even need to use the site ever again to have victims contacting them.

In short, if you need to exchange messages, just use our messaging system as that is what it's there for and is completely free. If you want to take it a step further, then provide your mobile phone number.

Everything we do here at Dating.mobi, including somethings people find annoying, are to protect our users.
