President Obama recently told business owners they didn't solely build their businesses. Do you agree with him?

I disagree with what he said. If there were fewer taxes, restrictions, permits, licences, insurances etc..etc... There would be many, many more privately owned small businesses!

Its a typical socialistic remark made by an administration that believes govt should control most aspects of our lives....That's not a crack on Democrats, that's just how they feel. I certainly don't agree with it as I have seen many friends start businesses with their last nickel, sweat paying off loan, wade thru endless licenses and fees, AND pay more than their share of taxes....and they made it...all on their own in SPITE of govt bureaucracy.

I took what he said NOT to mean the govt helped build the businesses but that Employees and consumers were the help!

Oh no, he meant govt, no doubt abt it. Business owners that are successful already recognize and appreciate their employees and consumers...otherwise they would not be successful business owners. Are they're bad business owners? Sure, but not as many as the media and the left will lead u to believe. Told this story before but its worth repeating here. I have a good friend who owns a plastics company here and he often points this out to me. He always wants to GROW his business. When he is able to do so, what gets created? Jobs, that's what. And with new jobs, more tax revenue is raised. If he is saddled with extra costs (higher taxes, higher permit fees, etc...) It effects his opportunity to grow. He is a very smart, compassionate, savvy man, just like a lot of other successful businessmen. Get govt out of his way and there's no telling how far he will rise...and take the community with him.

“If you were successful, somebody
along the line gave you some help.
There was a great teacher somewhere
in your life. Somebody helped to
create this unbelievable American
system that we have that allowed you
to thrive. Somebody invested in roads
and bridges. If you’ve got a business,
you didn’t build that. Somebody else
made that happen,” he said. “The
Internet didn’t get invented on its
own. Government research created the
Internet so that all the companies
could make money off the Internet.”
It does sound more to me, that he is talking about help from the government, rather than the public.
