Hi Folks,

To further combat scammers and fake profiles in our continuing fight to keep Dating.mobi the safest dating site on the planet, we no longer display the Profile Pics of users with Severely Negative Karma.

Scammers and fake profiles like to lure unsuspecting victims with fake profiles pictures of beautiful people (e.g. eye candy). They do this because it works! In fact, many users completely overlook Severely Negative Karma scores and warnings when they think someone beautiful is giving them attention. Well, we've just removed the scammers' #1 trap (and made the Karma System that much more powerful!) by no longer displaying the Profile Pics of users with Severely Negative Karma!

That means that users with a Karma Score below -3 will have a lifeless profile, making it significantly more difficult for them to convince unsuspecting users to send them money. It has the added bonus of giving real users with Severely Negative Karma a much bigger incentive to be nice and increase their Karma Score and recover their Profile Pic to actually land a date!

So if a user has asked you to send them money (no matter the excuse), or has an obviously fake profile pic, or is just not being very friendly, then please do the Dating.mobi community a favor and hit that -1 Negative Karma button in your Datinbox to help clean up the site!

I have to agree. That's just a ridiculously high neg karma number lol

I suspect this will make a bigger difference than the "Severely Negative Karma" warning on profiles in terms of the number of users that actually get scammed. And the harder it is to scam our users, the less scammers will use it. But the Karma System is only as good as the community makes it, so keep giving that juicy Karma, folks!

For reasons I cannot go into and as counter-intuitive as it sounds, that is actually not the best solution.

I don't think it will do any good, there are tones of ppl on here without pics and ppl that will talk to them and let themselves get scammed, js

If this were true then scammers wouldn't be going through the trouble of using fake pics in the first place. The M.O. of all romance scammers across all dating sites is to use eye candy to lure unsuspecting users and gain their trust, so remove their eye candy and you significantly reduce their ability to attract potential victims.
