As long as they are compensated appropriately

Depends on the type of job it is. A hospital? Nursing homes? Grocey store? Gas station? A restaurant chain? Farms? When I worked on a dairy farm, had to be at work 7 days a week rain or shine cause you can't let the cows starve right? Hospitals & nursing homes can't let the patients go unattended.

It depends on the job imo, but i dont think the same employees should be working all holidays

I'm a retail manager and In my opinion yes they should. Most decent retail establishments pay time and a half. At my store I pay time and a half. Most of my employees want to work because of the money.
However If your establishment doesn't offer that then you revert back to SOPs. Which means basically if you're establishnent is open on that holiday then you're required to work. But that's what you sign up for. Can't run a store with no employees.

Was it a corporate store or a franchise? Big difference there.
