Should an employer (by xNOBODYx)
Depends on the type of job it is. A hospital? Nursing homes? Grocey store? Gas station? A restaurant chain? Farms? When I worked on a dairy farm, had to be at work 7 days a week rain or shine cause you can't let the cows starve right? Hospitals & nursing homes can't let the patients go unattended.
It depends on the job imo, but i dont think the same employees should be working all holidays
I'm a retail manager and In my opinion yes they should. Most decent retail establishments pay time and a half. At my store I pay time and a half. Most of my employees want to work because of the money.
However If your establishment doesn't offer that then you revert back to SOPs. Which means basically if you're establishnent is open on that holiday then you're required to work. But that's what you sign up for. Can't run a store with no employees.

I saw on the news this morning that a man in illinois or indiana i don't remember was terminated after refusing to open the pizza hut he managed on thanksgiving
those places really should be closed on thanksgiving... And im sure all the people on top of the companies like the ceos will be at home with family
He managed it and as part of being management it is probably required that you work some holidays
Was it a corporate store or a franchise? Big difference there.
They can.....and do....thats why they are called the boss lol. You agreed to work for them so your kinda stuck.....U can always quit but I dont think u wanna do that.
