Admin enlighten me please. Is there a chance that an account is created in the US with verified phone number yet can be open in other countries through the use of pc?

I have noticed 3 cases where a user outside the US verified a phone number from the US. However, they were unable to Verify their Pic, and they got promptly banned. The phone number that they used are also banned, so it will get progressively more difficult for them to verify a US phone being outside the US as they will need to find new US numbers to verify, which we'll keep adding to our banned list.

To completely minimize your chance of talking to a fake profile or scammer, you should limit your interaction to users with BOTH a Verified Mobile Number and a Verified Pic. We have not yet seen a scammer successfully Verify both, but that does not mean it is impossible. It's just very difficult and will continue to get more and more difficult as we ban more and more numbers.

My idea is to make it so difficult, expensive, and annoying for scammers to create fake profiles here that they just give up and target another dating site that doesn't have the security features we have. I hope that message is clear to those scammers who are reading this right now. :)

Thanks Admin, I'd asked because I am exchanging messages to someone whom I'm very DOUBTFUL claiming to be from the US of A (with verified number) yet his English is worst than mine (grammar, spelling and excessive use of punctuation mark). Yes, his pic isn't verified but he is polite so far.

If you want, send me their username via a Private Message and I'll see if he checks out.

When talking about scammers exactly what is it they r after. Personal info, money, what? what makes them a scammer? I need to keep an eye out.

They are always after money, but they are incredibly subtle about it. They'll rarely mention money at the very beginning because they know that will turn you off, so they build a relationship with you over days if not weeks or months, until they get you to trust them, and then they give you "the story". "The story" can vary a lot, but they all have ONE thing in common: they end with them needing some money for one reason or another. And guess who they want to give it to them? None other than the person whose trust they've already gotten.

I've seen stories about a Western girl stuck in Africa needing a ticket home, or someone wanting to visit you since they "love" you but don't have money to buy a plane ticket.

Of course, the minute you actually send them money, one of two things will happen:

1) They'll make up another excuse to sucker you for more money.
or
2) You'll never hear from them again.

That is why we always say to immediately report any user that asks you for money -- directly or indirectly -- no matter how "well" you've gotten to know them, because they're professional scammers out for your money.

Incidentally, the vast majority of these scammers are in Africa, primarily Nigeria, so they do not need a lot of people to fall for these scams in order for them to make a living off of them since your dollars will go a lot further in their countries.

Hope this helps!

Scammers are good in manipulating emotions, good in letting you believe a romantasy (romance-fantasy) rob whatever you have; Money & abuse your good traits.
