Hope u see this j ust me and u 77 (by butterfly6577)
This is in response to a question. I have read The Mask, Watchers, Strangers, Brother Odd, Frankenstein the series, and others. I like Dean better than Stephen.
butterfly6577, hiya girl! :)) I sure did see your thread, thanks! This excited me a lot because I love the two authors. So, I grabbed a pen and paper and went through what I have in order to see what I did or did not have. Talk about a pair of book worms huh?lol But, this is also fun for me so I'm glad you posted this. First of all, I did not know about Dean koontz doing the Frankenstein the series. I'm going to check into that. The others I have not read yet. I hope to get there. I've read The Darkest Evening of the Year and in the middle of The Face so far. The other Dean Koontz books in my collection are: Brother Odd, Odd Hours, Night Chills, Your Heart Belongs to Me, The Husband, and One Door Away From Heaven.
The Stephen Books I have are: Insomnia, Blaze, Lisey's Story, Salem's Lot, Duma Key, The Wizard and the Glass, From a Buick 8, The Gunslinger, and Bag of Bones. I'm sure there are a few out there floating that I don't have in collection but I'm hoping to collect all of Stephen King and Dean Kootnz's novels. I have read Insomnia. Lord, that is a long book which I love and he kept me suspenseful every chapter. It only took me about two weeks to read in between doing daily stuff and work. I've also read Blaze which he wasnt going to release but is actually one of his best works to me. It was one of his first released novels and people just wasn't into that kind of thing at that time. I loved reading it. I've also read Salem's Lot, which was another one of my favorites, as well as Duma Key and the Gunslinger which I still don't know what to think of lol
Well i read the stand and dreamcatcher books u did not mention by stephen
Ahhh, right...yes. The Stand, I don't have and I saw dreamcatcher the movie but I don't have it in my collection yet either. Probably because they are the most recent. Dreamcatcher was straaaange girl. I dunno about that one lol Aliens from the butt...hmmmm lmao But, I did like the metaphor of locking away a part of the mind compared to the guy in the movie being physically locked inside the room. That was pretty interesting. I'm glad you reminded me about them though. I do want to collect them all. How was the Frankenstein Series? Please tell me a little summary or something about it. I once asked what the difference between the two authors were, and another avid Stephen King and Dean Koontz fan told me that there is a separation between Man and Monster with Stephen and no separation with Dean. With Dean, monster exist within man. Do you agree with that from reading a bit of both?
No. I dont agree. Dean has had a lil romance in his novels. The Frankenstein series is very excellent. It made me go read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. I however did not care for that. Only because the man who created the monster was such an egomaniac. Dean's Frankenstein is more about the monster that was created.
Jus want to throw in my opinion rite quick....Dean Koonz is the best. I like him better then Stephen King personally. Patricia Cornwell has some pretty good books as well
Whoah.... I got you. I saw Mary Shelley's Frankenstein movie and you're right about that. It was ok but nothing to write home about. I bet Dean's is better, so I will definitely check it out. As for the comparison, I've noticed a little of the difference myself but I haven't read enough of Dean to know for sure yet. The Darkest Evening of The Year clearly separated the monster...where the human was the monster. Couldn't believe how some people can just be so hateful and evil to others and most of the time. I wanted to have a hair match with the mother who was so evil to her physically disabled daughter. But, that little girl was out of sight. One thing's for sure, both Dean and Stephen does something wonderful that I like in their books. They takes us through hell to bring us back to heaven. I love being carried through the darkness to find the light. Great lessons in them always. Oh! I just thought of the most recent Stephen King movie The Mist plus I loved the Storm of The Century. I want that book baaad lol
Hey girl*waves Ahem.... They're both the best lol Well, I somewhat agree that Dean is awesome but I think it's because he elaborates more on the human condition. In The Face, I love how Dean makes his antagonist evil as hell, but he also loves chocolate lmfao
Have you ladies read any others? I know brite mentioned Patricia Cornwell. I think I may have some of her books. I'll have to look back through. But, I've also read The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, Ice Trap by Kitty Sewell, The Dark Side of Night by Sidney Sheldon (OMG...this is a goood one!! Lady who is starting as a lawyer...not rich, is caught up into her cases including an Italian mob ...starts over with nothing but her self worth and law experience), and Werewolf by Carrie Vaughn (I thought is way better than Twilight lol).
