@Andres: Why Andres, I SO offended by this thread. She said I suck didn't she? Well, she said "Guys suck" so that HAS to include me doesn't it? I even did what I was supposed to do and reported her for a personal attack against me...It was personal, right? Even tho she didn't specifically mention my name?.... Oh, I do this in jest, and to prove a pt. Some need to not take things so personally out here and lighten up a little. And I think a DETAILED explicit explanation of the rules needs to be posted on a sticky thread somewhere... Cuz God know, I am confused as heck abt them now. Even worried Ill get banned for this post.

It simple, if you feel like you are traversing a mine field, then it's probably because you are riding too close to the line between what is acceptable and what is not. I can't give a hard and fast rule of what will and will not result in an infraction, because I often times have to make a judgement call, and that judgement call isn't simply based on "one user was offended by this post, and reported it", because if that was all I went by, believe you me, the amount of temp-bans floating around here would be so much higher. But I can tell you that we have several very active users that have never even gone anywhere near that line and have always remained respectful, never attacked anyone, never used a curse word, and never created any drama, so I doubt they feel like they are traversing a mine field. In other words, I think that feeling of traversing a mine field has more to do with your posts, than with the rules.

To be clear, folks, insulting or name-calling other users is simply not allowed, whether it's "sad sacks", "dumbasses", or anything else. The reason for that is because it only leads to reactionary posts that create more negativity and drama as people "fight their corners", a perfect example of which was the thread in question. I've said it several times before, if another user insults you, don't reply with a rule violation yourself, just report them and I'll deal with it.

At the end of the day, I want to create a friendly and welcoming community where real discussions can happen without things getting personal and going off-topic in order to ensure the long-term health of the Forums. If you choose to walk close to the red line, regardless of how blurry it may be, then you obviously risk getting infractions.
