(40 / F-M / Jamaica)Why does men call women gal? And ladies why do you allow them to. Its even worse the woman you share a family with. I really want to know.........
What's wrong with gal? I take no offense to it, actually i prefer it to female or woman... The later is mostly due to a tendency of guys around here calling their wives or girlfriends their "old women".
I dont think its offensive myself. I would rather be called anything but nasty derogitory names any day.
@bigmomma19:what you saying in different countries different views or made of it. Does your man call you gal?

I dont call ladies gal and i hate the terms ol' lady and ol' man i call ladies ma'am, darlin or by there name

Well sorry we think of gal in different term. Calling a woman gal it no form of respect and its very offensive here. A woman can never be called a gal and being treated with respect.
so uhh. i take no offense for someones callin me gal. i rather chose it than to be called a woman lol. 
i don't have a guy. But here gal just the feminine version of guy. It's not offensive or anything... My girl scout troop leader called us gals if that helps put it in context...
