All infractions will be highlighted. Currently, all infractions result in a dunce, but that is not a requirement of the Forum software. It's just the way I set it up to more efficiently hand out dunces whenever I give an infraction.

Ok thanks......I was under the impression that it took 3 infractions to get a dunce (except for extreme circumstances) and thought it wld be a good idea to differentiate those three infractions in some way.....maybe a star or asterick....one for the first and two for the second.....cld kinda be like a warning to the user.

It was like that originally, but I ended up spending too much time giving too many 1 point infractions. So I got stricter, and made all infractions worth 3 points and thus result automatically in a dunce, but no longer gave multiple infractions to the same user on the same day. Now with the new highlight feature, I'm considering being even stricter and giving all offending posts an infraction/dunce regardless of when and where they were made, which means that multiple infractions in the same thread on the same day by the same user would result in a longer dunce.

I'm still working out the details, but I'll post them here when they're ready so that there's full transparency.

Well I'm gonna throw my 2 cents in here, I don't think we should get infractions for each post....but I do think each post should be highlighted where rules are broken. Since we don't have the 3 infractions before getting dunced, I think the forums are strict enough. But I know one troll called someone stupid and someone else an azz...I reported and they weren't dunced....so that's a lil confusing

I have a question. So will premium users dunces still last for only 24 hours no matter how many post are highlighted that day?

The problem with the current method is that I have to keep track of who received an infraction to make sure they don't get another one that would prolong their dunce, so that also results in me sometimes missing some posts that deserve an infraction. That's why I like the new method I've been discussing in this thread of just handing out infractions for every single rule violation so that I don't have to keep track of anything and just let the Forum software handle everything. That being said, instead of having the temporary bans almost double with each new infraction, I could do a more linear increase where 1 infraction results in a 1-day ban, 2 infractions in a 2-day ban, 3 infractions in a 3-day ban, etc. So that would help balance the new strictness. Overall, however, things will definitely be stricter than they were before, but a lot more transparent as well.

Yes, Premium users would still get dunced like they do now, and their dunces will never last more than 24 hours just like now.
