ELI5: what happens in a child?s brain when they?re raised in an abusive/toxic home?
My siblings and I grew up in a really messed up household. We?re now trying to undo all the mental ****tiness we?ve endured and trying to make sense of the complexes we have. And it all just feels...confusing. I feel like there?s patches of my brain where I?m supposed to know this and that and they?re just...not there. Does that make sense?
I feel like I meet a lot of people who had at the very least, decent upbringings, and they seem so normal.
Me, I feel like I?m a whole ass ****ed up human being. Like my brain just doesn?t work correctly.
I just started going to a therapist for this so there?s that.
But I?m pretty sure just about every single problem I have stems from my childhood.
