Me [26 F] with my boyfriend [28 M] of 4yrs, he cryptically made it seem like he was a sexual assaulter on social media

In the peak of #metoo, my boyfriend started obsessing over an awkward encounter 10 years ago and started feeling intense guilt about it.
He described the experience to me as follows: his friend asked him to get in her bed, and then asked him to cuddle, so he cuddles, and then he was says he was very uncomfortable so he remembers not being able to move much, but she suddenly jumped out of bed and ran into the hallway. They were both fully clothed at this point and wasn't sure why she jumped out of bed, but he was very freaked out. So he left her alone and slept elsewhere. I believe him, he acted like he got a weight off his shoulders after he told me. But to me, this is a situation where she had given consent to cuddle, and then rescinded consent for some unknown reason, and that was respected.
The metoo posts on social media worked him into a frenzy and he posted something along the lines of "I'm the cause of a metoo, and I've been working on not being a pushy creep ever since". Lots of his friends saw this, it was up for days. I'm thinking there's no walking this back, but I would like to know if anyone has any ideas for explaining this to his friends.

tl;dr: My boyfriend inaccurately described himself as a sexual assaulter on facebook, I'm wondering if there is any way to explain this to his friends.
