Women who have quit using or significantly cut down on plastic - how did you do it?

I've been very aware of how much plastic I use recently, but don't know where to shop or what habits to replace to start cutting down.
The supermarket near my house wrap many of their fresh vegetables in plastic wrap on Styrofoam trays or come in a bag, all packaged products (milk, beans, meat) are in plastic, and many basic daily use items are made of plastic too.
Help me, earth warriors!
