Jonathan and Sarah Adleta'schildren were doomed toa life of perversecrueltybefore they were evenborn.
Jonathan Adleta, a former Marine officer, dreamed of theday he could have "daddy-daughtersex." AfterSarah Adleta became pregnantwith a daughter, he said hewould marry her only if sheagreed to lethim carry out that desire. Whenthe couplehad a son, Sarah Adleta was expectedto have sexual encounterswith him.
In an Orlando federal courtroom this week, prosecutorsand witnesses described, in disturbing and graphic detail, the heinous exploitation and abuse the couple's toddlers endured atthe hands oftheir parents— even afterthey divorced.
Jonathan Adleta lived his dreamuntil March, when the FBI received a tip that his 29-year-old former wife was communicatingwith a NorthCarolina man who was arrested on chargesof having sexwith a child.
That's when federal authoritiesbegan unraveling a cross-country web of sexual abuse that culminated in convictions for both parents— and could land 25-year-old Jonathan Adleta in prison for life.
Sarah Adleta, a University of Central Florida student,pleaded guilty in May to two charges ofsexual exploitation of a minor. She faces 15 to30 years in federal prison and will be sentencednext month. On Thursday, jurors foundJonathan Adleta guilty oftwo child-sex charges.He'll be sentencedin Decemberand faces10 years tolife in prison.
The chargesagainst him stemfrom abuse that occurred in December, when Sarah Adleta and thecouple'stwo children traveledto his home in Oklahoma so he could have sexual contact with his daughter.
Butto tell the Adletas' story, prosecutorshad totake jurors to the beginning.
In opening statements,Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Gable characterized Adleta as a father who had a "sexual appetite" for his own daughter.
Sarah Adleta testifiedthat when shebegan dating Jonathan in 2008 —she was living with her family in Oviedo and he in an apartmentin theGoldenrod area —he began showing her storiesabout fathers and daughters having sex, togauge her interestin the possibility.
Theirdaughterwas born in March 2009, and Sarah Adleta becamepregnantwith their son not long after.
Sarah Adleta, who testifiedfor several hours this weekwearing Orange County Jail garb,
said sheinitially struggled with the concept and thought Jonathan Adleta would lose interestin it.
Butsheloved him, needed his financial securityand said she would do whatever it took to not lose him, she told jurors.
Gable told jurors thecouple madesexwith theirchildren "part of theirparenting plan."
They married in 2010.
The marine was deployed to Afghanistan, and when hereturned, the family movedto California, where he was stationed. There, his ex-wife said, hehad moresexual contactwith thechildren.
In late 2011, Jonathan Adleta filed for divorce, and Sarah Adleta later returned to Central Florida. Buteven with thousands ofmiles between them, sheallowed her former husband to continueto prey on his daughter electronically throughthe videoconference program Skype.
By thespring of 2012, Jonathan Adleta had founda new girlfriend who agreed to lethim victimize her daughter.
The girlfriend, 23-year-old Samantha Bryant —a Texas mother hemeton a dating website —testifiedthis week that she watchedas Jonathan Adleta molestedher daughter. On at least one occasion, she took pictures of the assault.
Bryant, who was visibly shaken and cried throughout muchof her testimony, said Jonathan Adleta asked her to write fantasy-typestories about him having sexwith his daughterand her daughter. She did. She also complied when heasked Bryant toperform sex actson her own daughter.
Bryant was eventually charged with and pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting her daughterand allowing Jonathan Adleta to sexually abuse the girl.
In December, Bryant and her two children spent Christmasin Oklahoma with Jonathan and Sarah Adleta and theirtwo children. Sarah Adleta told jurors that there, her former husband sexually abused theirdaughterin his bedroomand called her in towatch.
Sarah Adleta, who was emotionless during muchof her testimony, began to choke up as sheexplained what she witnessed.
"She seemedvery resistant," she said of her toddler, adding that the child was "really upset" and "frightened."
ButSarah rendered no aid toher crying girl.
Weekslater, aftershe and the children returned toOviedo, Jonathan Adleta suggestedthat his former wife should find another man to abuse theirdaughterso shewould become comfortablewith thesex acts, toprevent her from'freaking out" in the future.
During that time, Sarah Adleta was communicatingwith Aaron Dixon, a North Carolina man who was later arrested on child-sexchargesin an unrelated case.She told jurors sheperformed sexacts on the children while Dixon watched via Skype.
In her closing argumentThursday, Gable told jurors that the last time the Adletas spoke, they discussedSarah Adleta's taking theirdaughter toDixon so hecould sexually abuse the girl.

I think these people are just as bad as murdering someone. Those children may still be alive, but imagine the life they are gonna have? The therapy, the nightmares, possibly suicide later in life. No one takes into account all that happens to the victim cuz they're to worried about protecting the a**hole doing it. Ughhh

I could not read all of this....it makes me beyond angry beyond disheartened.....I myself have a 3 year old and could NEVER imagine some bitch allowing her bf to engage in horrific acts.
