@Ram318: Lol yeah I tried that and it gave an error message, that the post was too short. I understand we can't censor what other people say, but we should be able to have a choice with censoring what we ourselves say.

Once the thread posted it became a "property " of Dating.mobi :D, perhaps you can rephrase the content of your thread . Admin has an explanation with this i think in tractorjohn's thread .

Unfortunately not. Forums posts are a continuation (and an integral part of) a discussion involving several different users, and if everyone were allowed to go back and delete what they've said or even change it, it would completely break the flow of the discussions that have occurred. For example, imagine User A and B are having a heated but interesting discussion, and then 3 months later, User B goes back to the thread for a bit of trolling and changes all of their replies so that it purposefully does not make any sense in terms of the discussion they were originally having, rendering everything that User A wrote useless and cryptic while making them look like a disoriented idiot who doesn't know what the heck they are talking about. That wouldn't be fair to User A, and it wouldn't be fair to all the users who read through that thread. Now imagine if User B was a very active user with 10,000 posts spread out across 2,000 different threads, and you quickly see the destructive potential of a very patient but malicious user who would have the power to go back and kill the flow of thousands of threads which would impact thousands of posters and readers.

This is also why your posts remain even if you delete your account. Imagine deleting all the posts of every user that deleted their account...the Forums would be like Swiss cheese!

The point is, this is a public forum, and people should only post what they would post in public. This has the added benefit of keeping things relatively civil, because if you could just say whatever you wanted knowing you could always go back and "rewrite history", then people would be more willing to mouth-off and be disrespectful, among other things.

I THINK if u hit edit, then erase everything, hit 'post edit' it will jus leave a blank post
Thanks for pointing this out because it shouldn't be working this way as it defeats the purpose of what I wrote above, so I just changed it so you can only edit a post up to 15 minutes after you write it. That should be more than enough time for people who might post something in the "heat of the moment" to have second-thoughts and change or re-word what they've written without affecting the overall flow of the thread. But anything greater than that, and that post might have already received several replies, so changing it at that point would be counter-productive.

Hope that makes sense, folks.

@Andres: 1 quick question. I know that posts can be edited, but I would like to be able to edit when I start a THREAD, just in case of a grammatical error. Is this possible to arrange? Or would it complicate things on your end? To be more clear, I'm talking abt being able to edit a thread title. And I just edited this post and it kinda funny to me, considering the this thread topic lol

I'm glad you asked this because when I first integrated the Forums, I didn't see a way to do this, but after reading your request, I went back a found a way to hack around it and actually got it to work!

Only when you edit the first post of a Thread should it give you the option of editing the Title. Give it a shot and let me know if it's working correctly or has any problems.

Thanks for the suggestion!
