long range isnt an option in newhampshire though hawkeye. The longest shot you are likely to get around here is about 200yrds. I know it is a whole different story out your way.
I see your point! The AK is very hard to beat in an urban enviro.

2 rifles I have yet to get my hands on to shoot are FN's SCAR and FS2000. Has anyone here had any experience with either of these 2 guns??

Count me in on the Kalashnikov crowd. A battle rifle isn't about distance. It's about heavy lead in the air. Sure, the .556 can reach out to a thousand yards. Under perfect conditions. Conditions, though, are rarely perfect. I want a weapon that is time tested, reasonably accurate and above all functional.

If you're talking solely abt "lead in the air", an AK has a cyclic rate of fire of 600 rounds a minute and an M-16 has a rate of [Warning: Posting of Contact Info is not allowed. Please follow the rules.] rounds per minute...so the M-16 actually puts more "lead in the air". Of course, the AK fires the larger 7.62x39mm round and in theory should have greater "knockdown" power....One of the lesser known reasons that the U.S. decided to go with the M-16 and its smaller cartridge is, 1st of all, the increased rate of fire and the ability of an individual to carry more rounds on his person...and second reason has to do with the Hague Convention and its outlawing of any type of mushrooming or fragmenting small arms ammunition. The slower, tho heavier fmj 7.62 AK round tends to go straight thru, rarely disforming, and leaving a uniform wound channel...the high velocity, lightweight 5.56 M-16 round, on the other hand, tends to yaw upon entry and in effect, "mushrooms"...it also has the capacity to fragment easier, creating even more damage. People now assume that the AK is more reliable than an M-16 (AR in civilian life) and that is true when comparing them with a Direct Impingement gas system...But an AR with a piston driven system is just as reliable as an AK. That being said, the only people using AKs are undisciplined militia who are not smart enough to properly and regularly clean a weapon, and frikn gangstas....I, for 1, would never carry a "commie" weapon lol

@vinnie612: Its just hard not to own an AR or 2. There's SO much after market stuff for em these days...hell, I think u cud hang a Christmas tree off of one, if u want to lol...I really don't have much against AKs, except that they aren't accurate...and I HATE in-accurate weapons with a passion. Why fire 5 rounds and miss, when u can fire 5, and score 5 hits
