Anyone with any ideas on how a radio control model airplane can be applied for purposes beneficial to people other than the exhilaration derived from it by aeromodellers. Since I started the hobby, I've been thinking of how I can design one that can be useful to the public. I don't like the way folks here view it as just a flying toy

Im facinated by the model planes and helicopters that carry a small video recorder inside them! I know the military now uses these types of models for visual scouting, but would think a civilian model would have practical applications also!

@Hawkeye58: what's visual scouting? Any ideas of how to apply civilian models too apart from attaching a camera to it? Is banner towing a practical application?

Military scouting = reconnaissance, watching enemy activity.
a model plane with a video camera could possibly have some use in law enforcement, or in finding people lost in the wilderness, or checking out hot chics in Bikinis on a beach! Lol.
Towing advertisement banners might also be a good idea also.
