Burning in the sun’s confession,
Sand consumes my every limb
I lie down, resting empty strength
And focus back on thoughts of him.

With fingers skimming over sand,
I thrilled the stolid surface, and
With tears that never found my eyes,
Reflected on just what we had.

It’s bad for you, they’ll preach to me,
But love’s an ever tempest force
I wonder at what could have been,
But still I don’t feel much remorse.

Life is harsh, but so are we,
Afraid to care, we always hide
Never willing to admit,
How vulnerable we are inside.
