Religions vs. Mythology (by lonelylady88)
Was not sure where to place this, but here it goes. Why do we call some religions "mythologies" (ancient Greek, norse, Egyptian, etc.) and others religions? Is this fair? What does this show about how relevant certain ideas are as society progresses?
Because mytholigie not based upon belifs it based on folk tales as where religion of all type is more a belif type
I belive there all mythologies the ancient people belived in there deities as much as current people belive in theres who's to say who's rite
All the eastern mythologies are religions. Most Americans believe a religion can only have one deity.
I think if people actually look at religion and mythology than they will see some similarities between the two
@Aldo420: but mythology is not always religion look at Beowulf and grendel and gilgamesh some mythology is religion like ancient greek and norse had no written text like bible and quaran they had oarl tales and as far as rite or wrong it all about faith and that any religion hindu muslim christian buhdist pagan
@vinnie612: modern religon has it's own fables david and goliath, daniel and the lions den ect ment to teach the values of said religon
Really love Greek Mythology although i love them a lot i wont believe they exist they are only stories thats why myth. lol! still the religion conquers it all :)
To the greeks(for example) that worshiped their gods they wld not call it Mythology, so I wld say the difference in Mythology and religion is on only in the difference of who is saying it.....perhaps in a cpla hundred years they will b teaching the mythology of catholiscm and the virgin mary and the saints
