They are a breed of hunting dogs named after a parish (defined region) in louisiana, they are actually the louisiana state dog. thought to have been mebbe descendants of native american dogs and russian greyhounds. Renowned for there Hog hunting, Roosevelt owned and hunted them and Jim Bowie bred and raised them and was well know for going Everywhere with a pair of them. They are also sometimes called Catahoula leopard dogs becuz of their unique coloring.

@JLaDawn: I now consider myself enlighten and a little more educated.. U certanley know ur dogs and ther history.. think i will av 2 call them the lepard dogs as i cant prononce ther proper name...
