ELI5: Why does the body feel more pain when it is inflicted on itself rather then when another perso (by Sparky)

ELI5: Why does the body feel more pain when it is inflicted on itself rather then when another person inflicts it on them. Ex: waxing hurts more when a person does it themselves rather than someone else doing it.
