ELI5 - Why does water evaporate off of different surfaces at different rates?

It rained last night in my town. I noticed this morning that my cars paint was nearly dry while my windshield still had ample amounts of water on it, as did all of the windows. I assume this has something to do with the thermal conductivity of different substances, but I also notice different cars keep water at different rates in the same places.
