ELI5: How does transpiration pull in plants work? (by Sparky)

ELI5: How does transpiration pull in plants work?

In this video it talks about how water and minerals from the soil get absorbed into the roots and go into the xylem. It gets pulled up into the leaves because water is cohesive or something but I don’t understand how that works. How does water move up the xylem because no water is in the plant?
