Well let's see...cause intimate relationships trump friendships. That's just how it works. Lovers come first.

Honestly most men are territorial and Jealous so they are uncomfortable with a man that's not related to his girlfriend by blood or marriage to talk to them or hangout with em! Some men are insecure or have trust issues and some are controlling. Many people in general don't believe that opposite sex friends can remain friends without sex eventually being introduced unless one or both people are gay! Some guys demand them not to speak to guys friends like mine did afraid we would have cyber sex or something meanwhile he lived over 9hours away and we actually we're only friends online and through texting never met in person! Now this goes for women as well as men many women don't want there bf/husband hanging around another woman and texting her at all hours of the day and night! I think though if you have been friends (never had sex or talked about screwing each other and didn't flirt) for years then the bf should respect your friendship just like he expects you to respect there relationship! If a girl only talks to you till her bf dumps her or she dumps him maybe she kind of likes having you as a shoulder to cry on or to make exbfs jealous or maybe deep down she wants to date you but you never ask her out so when she's with a guy she doesn't wanna push it in your face just in case you're too shy to tell her your true feelings! I know my answer is ten times longer then the ones before it but unlike them I actually am trying to help not being rude to you by laughing at you or something! Also from what critter said yes a bf or gf should be above people so to speak but friends you've had way before you met a guy/girl should still come up on your radar you shouldn't completely kick them out of your lives you can still text them or hangout sometimes heck if you're good enough friends you guys could double date or she could at least let you meet her new flame to get to know each other! This is only my opinion everyone has different opinions!
