Was wondering if there will be a choice whether we would like to be notified by email or txt message when we recieve mail or someone posted in our forum thread.

Andres posted that he cannot do that on the free site cause it costs money to send massive amounts of txts and or email to someones inbox. i dont know if he has decided to put it in the premium version he is currently working on

Currently, the only option is to receive e-mail alerts whenever you receive a new message, wink, or rose while you are offline.

Upcoming Premium users will also get e-mail alerts of direct Forum replies.

Regarding the SMS/Text Alerts, I haven't introduced them yet and there are no immediate plans to introduce them due to their high cost vs. sending e-mail (to give you an idea, sending text alerts is 6,900% more expensive than sending e-mail alerts). Once the Premium version is launched and I've had a chance to see the revenue vs. cost structure of it, I'll see if I can squeeze in a few SMS/text alerts for Premium users.

I've also looked at a crude but potentially "outside-the-box" way of sending text alerts to our Premium users. There is such a thing called "Email-to-SMS gateways" which most operators in the US apparently provide. It allows you to receive E-mail as an SMS/text. So that would conceivably allow us to send you an alert via E-mail to your special Email-to-SMS gateway e-mail address, and your operator would then automatically forward it as an SMS/text to your mobile phone.

If any of you with a Verified Phone would like to test that, let me know your Operator and I'll send you a test e-mail to see if you receive it as an SMS/text. If we are able to confirm that this works on a large scale, then we should be able to offer free, unlimited SMS/text Alerts to all our upcoming Premium users that have Email-to-SMS enabled. This could prove to be an interesting solution if it works.
