I see it as an 'attempt' at emotionl blackmail. Ex: Do what I/ we want or you are out.

At 25, he has been a MAN a long time. It is HIS choice. It's time to man up. Which includes putting parents,in their place, including cutting them out if necessary.

*Some cultures & religions want parental blessings, but here in USA that is unusual. And he did not say' marriage' or 'in love'. Just the question.. My answer is yes. If he truly cares for this girlfriend, love her, do the RIGHT thing, by her, marry her, treat her like a Queen*

@spyder2389: My mom said the same thing to me. I told her that I couldn't live my life trying to please her, a girl, the world, and myself too and if she couldn't be supportive of my happiness then I'd see her at my sister's for holidays. She kinda mellowed out a bit. She still grumbles but **** happens.
