Notice planes leave behind 2 different types of trails behind them; one goes away completely in a matter of seconds an the other spreads out through the sky over a matter of hours??? One in a CON-trail: condensation trail. The other is a CHEM-trail: chemical trail. You prolly consider them clouds but I dont recall clouds looking like that when I was a kid. Im a conspiracy theorist because you fail to do research on something that sounds to crazy to be true. Yeah, it must be the weed..

@tesseract: The difference in appearance of contrails is due to difference in temperature aloft. Also in the air movement at high altitude. Cold air causes more condensation, therefore a heavier trail. Colder air aloft is often more stable than warm air, therefore the condensed moisture stays in the trail pattern longer.
