How old should a elderly person driver license be revoked
I don't think there should be an age. I know two 83 yr old men, one is active, walks everywhere etc. The other needs constant care. So whatever age they can't function anymore is my answer.
It seems like here lately theres been a rise in elderly causeing bad crashes. Here awhile back a 67 yr old lady drove thru a waiting room at the doctors office killing 2 people and the other day a 69 yr old woman drove thru a grocery store wall killing 1 person and today we had a 72 yr old man caused a 8 pile up crash on 240 in memphis killing 1 person. I think they should be giveing the driver exam over when they renew when you reach a certain age
In Texas a Peace Officer can take a person's drivers license and submit it to a medical review board to determine if someone needs to have their license revoked.
This will not be a popular respond (especially considering my own age), but I think everyone over 55 should have medical review & be retested. I have seen some very sickly people over 55 & very healthy people at 85. IMO, it should be on a individual basis. After all driving is " a privilege ", not a right.
* And only LEGAL citizens should be allowed to drive, and EVERYONE must be able to read & write English *
