We would sip tea and watch the lightning bug blaze up the night down by the creek from our house, sweetest of memories

Dad & i working & fixing up old bike on weekends. He'd take us to drive-in movies when they had toys & cartoons play b4 main movie. Bucket of Kfc & ice chest. or walk downtown to fox theater watch movies. we didn't have much money but had love.

There was so much not right as a kid. At best my dad wasn't there. At worst he was drunk and at any time he was physically and/or mentally abusive. Mama still to this day has my back so I guess that counts. The times spent outdoors with my maternal grandpa either hunting or fishing has to be the best. If when this whole crazy ride we call life ends and I can say that throughout life I was half the man he was I'll know that I've done something. Half the man he was=one helluva man.
