Prisoners and the internet (by james85)

The chief inspector of prisons says giving prisoners access to the web would improve their education, their chances of finding work on the outside and improve contact with family. There’d be restrictions of course - they’d be barred from using social media and accessing porn but would get some access to email and Skype. You got a problem with that? Would like to be skyped by prisoners?

The whole idea of "prison" is to forfeit freedom and all things that come with freedom.
Why don't we just give them sky tv, a swimming pool and jacuzzi along with sexy women.
Hell they already get free gym, free food, free bed, and can work for money.
I think that if you gorl prison then you loose your rights other than being able to work I pay for phone calls to their family.
Bring back the days when you were thrown into a black pit for ages.

@Notlikeothers: I whole heartly agree w/you. Their BASIC human needs, should be met. And weekly acess to a phone & visits w/family. And acess to 'certain', reading material. And that is it. ! Here.. On death row, they can set for 7yrs, private cell, colored tv, etc.. Then file an appeal, & wait again. At tax payers expense. Smh. I would have an 'express line' , for swift justice & public executions. And less mercy for crimes commited against women, children, elderly, police, etc.. And much stiffer penalties for 'white collar ' crimes.

I find it down right DISGUSTING that this is even under consideration. Prisoners are treated better than senior citizens. Something just does NOT add up.

@Shoe: Yes, they are treated bettter than our elders, & children go hungry in our country everyday. There is a community in Alaska that does not have toilet facilites, they use a 'honey pot'. And there are only two showers. One for men, one for women... For every 100 people. ! Outragous for this day & age!

@Zilya777: I have a friend who works for the Uk prison service and she said that the inmates (prisoners) are allowed to:
Go to gym everyday
Work for money (upto £25 a week)
Use the phones at anytime
Go to the library once a day
Have a minimum of three visits a week.
Get three meals a day
Wear their own clothes
Buy radios/cd/DVD players
Buy a non wifi games consul (Xbox 360/ps2 ect)
Buy DVDs/CDs/games
Buy new clothes
Buy shoes
Buy magazines and papers
And, the Internet IS available in the library already.

Personally I think that if you kill someone then you should suffer the fate that person had to, ie: death sentence.
I you violate a person/child then you should have it cut off.
If its a white-collet crime then you do your time.
I believe that other than a phone call and a visit a week these people should be thrown into a black pit to think about what they have done and how it's effected everyone including. Their families who then have to deal with the stigma of a family member in prison/jail.
