Well u know how us Americans are, very opinionated I suppose, and we hate to be wrong abt wat we believe in lol. The old saying that there's a bad apple in every bunch applies to this subject also. U don't throw out the whole bunch tho...JMO...

@polarbear71484: I agree. I think talking about race makes people uncomfortable, especially if they're sheltered. America is a wonderful country, but we do have some pretty massive stains in our past. Honestly, it takes a mature, open-minded and educated person to actually discuss race in a tactful manner. As far as Europe, I have always found that interesting. One of my Literature professors (a black woman) was telling us a couple years ago about when she stayed in Europe. The natives would come up to her treating her like a celeb, fascinated by her being an American. They didn't say "African-American" or even paid attention to the fact that she's black. They just said "Oh, you are American." My professor said it felt great lol, but she was in awe of the whole situation. Sadly, I've never been out of the country :( But I would love to experience it! Definitely going to save some dollars and travel.

Discussing issues like this is very important in social evolution. Lot to learn and a long way to go. But usually ignored and thats not gonna solve anything either.

I think the talk of "race" should be dropped all together in our country. People cant let go if it is continually brought up and discussed like there is or never has been a problem. Yes America has had issues....white against black, black against white, north against south, south against north.....if u dnt get over it and move on it will always be a problem in America. We are all HUMANS thats what matters!! jmo

If i cant talk about my race that would be awful. Im proud of my family. And i enjoy all different peoples stories. Just how the conversation is carried needs to change.

I think the worst thing we can do is not talk about race. We have to face our history in order to understand it, and to understand each other. But like I said in an earlier post, it takes mature, educated and open-minded people to have a real discussion on race. You have to go into it willing to listen, be open, respectful, and willing to learn something. We can't grow or become more comfortable with each other if we just push race under the rug like it doesn't exist. Clearly it does and always will, so we just have to deal with it and work towards unity. We've come a LONG way as a country and are getting stronger on this subject. It's all about progression. JMO.

I feel ya on that i mean racism is very very present in the south especially the deep south, i mean i was in a store and the MANAGER OF THE STORE SAID HE DONT TAKE WELFARE MONEY OR AKA ****** CHECKs i am very well educated and traveled and this is how america is as of today black people can't get over slavery, as a black men it was hard to do myself when i studied it, and white people NOT ALL think that all black people are either ******* athlethes, rapper, drug dealer or on welfare and think that they are better especially when decising racial purity, its like the watered down verison of racism to me at least
