I didn't call them out for using the word "redneck", I called them out and gave them infractions for their obviously racist remarks. One went down the racial "purity" route, while the other was talking about ridiculous "spots" on interracial children. I'm not going to tolerate that here.

Regarding the "redneck" bit, when someone uses it to refer to somebody else, it is almost always in a derogatory manner, and therefore disrespectful, and therefore in violation of our rules. I was just clarifying that, since not everyone was clear on the term.

For the record, I don't think that stating you prefer to date within your own race is necessarily racist. As long as there are no racist undertones to that remark, it's no different to saying you prefer to date blondes. But when the discussion turns to purity, false racial assertions, or malicious discrimination on the basis of race, then it's crossed the line.

There is no place for racism on Dating.mobi. Period.

Preferring to date blondes and completely excluding any brunettes or redheads...etc, is two different statements.....i prefer great big country boys always have, always will. but i fell in love with two city fellas, one big and one lil bitty....I didn't exclude all possibility just because of their body type....and someone that excludes all possibility becuz of the color of someones skin is prejudice. sorry I have to agreeably disagree with u Andres. it was bound to happen!

Yesssss "redneck" is always used in a derogatory disrespectful way, therefor the person that called ur members "racist stuck up rednecks" is the one u should be calling out. Itz93kleezy was the one making the racist slures, u said urself it was disrespectful and against the rules.

No worries, I never expect (or even want!) everyone to always agree with me. :) If I may be pedantic, the definition of racist is "a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others". So if choosing to only date within your race is not done out of a feeling of superiority (e.g. where they believe other races are inferior to theirs and thus undateable), and it's simply a personal preference, then I don't see how it could be construed as "racist". If a Chinese only wanted to date other Chinese because that's what they're most familiar and comfortable with, then I can respect that. But if they did it because they felt all other races were inferior to theirs, then I wouldn't respect that, nor would I tolerate it. It is not for us to say whether a person's preference for dating is right or wrong because it's something personal to them, just like how some might only date red-heads for whatever reason. It's the reasoning behind that preference that can make it either racist or not. Of course, this is just my opinion based on the definition of racist and nothing else.

Since there was some confusion regarding the appropriateness of the term, I'm going to give him a pass on this one. But now everyone is on notice regarding the malicious use of that charged word.
