@tractorjohn: Unfortunately the poor who once grew own food dont have arable land anymore so results lots startvation. Basically gov destroyed land or put them rural areas where cant grow. Are farms owned by super rich but we also got some idiots who believe in kill the farmer. How dumb kill someone who produces food for the nation. My late gran rented farm for years and sustained self and sold to market when we were small-lol i ran away at age 5taking brothers 3and4yrs old to farm cos gotsic my mom shoutn

@Trisha777: Yes it does seem dumb to kill the people who feeds the nation. But in some ways it is sort of happening here too. The government says Do This but Don't Do That. In fact I remember when farmers were paid Not to grow but a certain amount of a crop as far as how many acres the farmers were to grow of that crop. Which in a way I can understand why because if everybody grew alot cotton but not enough of corn they were trying to even out the crops to where there wasn't a shortage of one & too much of another. Who would of ever thought the Government finally got something right LOL!!! So what did your Grandfather grow on his farm? Was he your Dad's Dad or your Mom's Dad? I got to know these little details LOL

Lol musta been miracle gov got it right-hope they helped ppl change one crop to other -sounds bit like Lenin, ppl had to grow what country wanted but think had to give half to country or was it china? Saw doccie on cuba how farmers became richest with most status n we get told how dumb cuba is-got sanctioned n found ways to sustain self damn if i got country right but was one where we were led to believe what bad gov were-evenfound ways survive own resources for transport n almost every citizen has a home

Sadly some our farmers and fams were literally and brutally murdered by citizens who thought we should create another zimbabwe. Gov seems to have appeased the situation cos i havent heard killings long time-hope stays that way!

@Trisha777: Well it really isn't as bad as Lenin but it does make sense to grow some of this but not much of that. Farming here isn't really unsafe unless people are careless with the equipment and of course by poisonous snake bites. You really have to be ready for them especially in the rice fields. I never been snake bitten but have came close a few times.

03/26/12 @ 05:30am It appears that the work week will be warm with very slim chances of rain. Soon the fields should be dry enough to be able to have the tractors back in the fields. We aren't really behind in that department but with all the rain from the past two weeks we are not ahead of ourself like we had hoped to be at this time of the year. Hope everybody has a "Rice" Day

I've had enough calls with snakes my luck running out, last bear season was scouting a mothers deb just make sure had no really young cubs, i felt wham wham wham! Right against my calf looked down copperhead had crawled out his burrpough, stroknin at me. Thankfully i always wear knee high huntin boots for that reason. And once i climbed a treee stand find a sleepin rattler in my seat....needless say i didnt tree stand hunt that day lol!

Sorry for some errors, still waking up. But also, recently i've seen a odd snake very odd. Looks just like a timber rattler we have around here....but the markings are that of a copperhead and it has no rattle! Is it possible for them too have mixed? I don't know but it made my heart skip
