New Mom's Uncensored Photos Reveal The Beautiful, Messy Reality Of Home Birth (by Sparky)

From the minute her contractions began, Ruth Iorio was posting her uncensored thoughts, feelings and photos on Facebook and Twitter. Through the pain and excitement, she was determined to share exactly what her home birth was like with friends, family and strangers.

Her goal, she told HuffPost, was to show "my unique experience, whether attractive or not and just to be honest about it." The result was a raw, intimate, captivating story of the start of a life.

Iorio gave birth to her son, Nye, at home. Soon after, she was transferred to a hospital because her placenta failed to detach. At the hospital, her placenta was delivered, she was given a pain-relieving drug and she received blood transfusions. Because she had lost a significant amount of blood and had a fever, she was put on antibiotics and spent two nights at the hospital for observation.

...Revealing one's dirty private life to others may not help one or others. It may even corrupt them!

To mature inwardly, make your mistakes, recognise and accept your mistakes, LEARN from them and move on.

Dirty?! Really? While revealing a birth so openly isnt my cup of tea, in no way do I see it as anything close to being "dirty".

What's "dirty" about childbirth? I watched my little angel being born. THAT more than any preaching or sermons or bible thumping is what brought me back to god! If any man has ever been humbled, I knew when I saw the whole birth process unfold in front of me that I was witnessing a true miracle! You "god fearing"men should be ashamed of yourselves.

What an open and genuinely giving person to share such an intimately personal experience with all of us. Especially since upcoming birth can be scary for first time moms. Not everyone has another woman to discuss childbearing fears and experiences with. I applaud this woman's openness.

I agree with Walks and Ladawn. Childbirth is beautiful. Not dirty. And IMO if you dont like looking at dont look.

@Sparky: makes me wonder if the father knew what she was doing before she posted it. Don't think I would allow the whole world to see my partner doing it
