I can't begin to tell you how many times i get the "hey sexy" or the"wow your beautiful" as an intro. I just ignore those types. Maybe you should try winking first? If we wink back typically were interested.

@Gothikchic29: That's a pretty good piece of advice. I usually just pick something out that i know a woman would like. Say for instance, if a woman tends to dote on personality you could simply say something about yourself that you know from her profile that she would be intrigued by.
