I did it when I was married, kinda.....I worked 24 hrs on/48hrs off....on those two days off, I cooked, cleaned, took kids to school, wiped butts....wasnt a biggie.....but I think it takes a special kind of woman for it to work. Most seem to want the man working.

I thought the OP is introducing himself as a stay at home dad :D but doing his 4th research works

OnT:

It depends of the reason (s) why he(dad) is a stay at home . Is it because he was laid of from his work & temporarily jobless or he is ill & must need rest then it is understandable and a wife will step up in providing family needs BUT if he is a stay at home dad because of laziness & does nothing other than comfortably sitting on the couch smoking and/or drinking beers while watching porn/ sports/ race then he better die ..

Some stay at home dads still earning thru home-based jobs

Well ~~~~ IMHO

If he is a 2nd generation wealthy dad then its another story ..

@Rainbowbutterfly1: There is a small group of couples here in the U.S., where the wife works and the man stays home and takes care of those duties...sort of a role reversal...both agree...or so Im told.

@WalkSoftly: Without any valid reasons but just a couple's decision?

Could be the wife earns better than the husband ? Wife is more educated than the husband ?

Maybe a lil of both? Im not really sure....Some women relish the role of bread winner and dont mind if the man stays home and takes care of the house...Ill admit, its not an easy task, btw....but, like I said, its a rather small percenatge of couples.

Well.. we can only assume though but to some wives being a breadwinner adds feather in their caps .

Indeed not easy for both husband and wife but it may be the best decision for them
