Minimum post count before being allowed to start a thread (by WalkSoftly)
I don't believe Andres will go for any changes unless he feels it is fair to all new users. I suppose if the rules were all new users had to wait say 7 days before they could start a thread of their own, they would either wait to do so or never post in the forums or just delete right away. I honestly think the ones who are true blue will wait the 7 days cause it wouldn't be that big of a deal to them & fully understand if they knew the reasons why they have to wait.
I'm gonna throw in my 2 cents worth
I agree that it would be better if there is a minimum time frame for new members before allowing them to create thread(s) ( for them to be able to get around / read a bit ) but I DISAGREE to minimum post count before they can create their own threads .
There are members who are uninterested to the subjects posted because they can't relate or they too can't find humor to jokes or not into games thread and/or only have limited free time . If they are subjected to number of post prior of creating threads , then most likely , they would either run away or have perfunctory one word responses just to reach the limit or worst will keep hijacking threads since they aren't allowed to have one .
The purpose of " Introduction" category and " I'm looking for " will be set aside temporarily if that would be implemented .
Worried about trolls ? Admin repeatedly stated " DON'T FEED THE TROLLS " but sadly , what happening is a complete opposite . Trolls threads got the most number of replies within minutes . You gave what the trolls craved for and of course, they will keep coming back ..
Well ~~~~ IMHO ~~~~

@Rainbowbutterfly1: That is a fair point....and like I said in an earlier post, a read only mode for a certain time frame wld probably help the situation......but its not only about trolls. On numerous occassions, users, after starting drama, have deleted their acct before a dunce cld be given, and returned unscathed.....a read only mode for new accts wld help with that issue....or at least settle things down for a while.
It must be so refreshing to be able to just blame your actions on someone else. The trolls aren't at fault all the OTHERS are. Certainly it was my fault that the idiot came on with his thread today...I mean I had made a whole 3 maybe 4 comments about his identity so of course I deserved what I got. Smh
Just food for thought.....I wld guess that roughly 90% of the introduction threads are made by new users just to get that icon off of their page....most never come back.........I see no reason why a universal Introduction thread wldnt suffice.
I don't know if i agree with min post but maybe a min "age" as in how long you've been here.
Which is where a time limit might work........user decides to make an alter acct to raise hell after whatever, mad, dunced, etc.....makes acct....and cant post for 24 hrs....cools off, its over.
Hey, Im just throwin out ideas here...any others are welcome.

I've been on sites that newbies( no harm intended) could only start a thread in the introduction subject . until the had a little time under their belt. might be a.good idea here..
That is a good idea but it may also lead them posting unrelated topics since they aren't allowed to post in other categories hence they're breaking the rules . They may also feel they're an outcast / unwelcome so they'll leave ..
