03/20/12 @ 6:15pm We have not be able to get any tractor work done in the fields at all this week due to last week's rain. It is raining again now. We have been checking the tractors & planters over fixing the slightest problem on them. Today we took a combine hooked it up to the corn header and cleaned it out, my dog Russell had fun chasing the mice that came running out from underneath the corn header. He loves to chase mice, birds, grasshoppers and the Boss's pickup.

@TheBillCollector: Hey that sounds like that would be alot of fun. Have you ever tried Duck Hunting? It's real popular here. During the winter I shoot Geese to keep them off the Wheat Fields, man sometimes there are 100's of them trying to eat the Wheat. They can destory a small field in just a few short days.

@TheBillCollector: Then you would love it here during the winter, you could spend all day shooting at those targets I have spent lots of days shooting at them. The best thing about it is if I'm only using a 22 rifle shooting at them in the fields I don't need hunting licenses at all. I'm not hunting I'm scaring them off the crops

03/22/12 @ 07:10am Yesterday it rain on & off all day real nice & slow. Here on the farm, we received 2 & 3/4 inches of rain. It will be a nice Sunny Day but too wet to do any tractor work in the fields for a few days. If we do not receive any rain over the weekend some of the fields may be dry enough to get the tractors back to work. We already have the corn fields bedded in rows, along with some of the soybean fields but as of yet we have alot of work to do in the rice fields. Although we knocked down the levees in them last year, we still got to get them ready to be planted. We may only have to check all the fields to be sure they are draining the rain water off of them, so we may only have to work up till lunch time. Updated @ 07:00pm Boss's 4x4 pickup had a brake line we replaced, we also installed runners on a new 4x4 pickup he bought earlier this year. Fields were draining rain water off good enough so we did very little with today.

03/23/12 @ 02:30pm Today we worked a little more on the cornheader. Tighten the chains, replaced 3 sprockets, 2 bearings and added gear oil to it. We still have to lube the chains and adjust the blades. Will be off work til Monday...
