When our children need bullet proof book bags to go to school. They are flying off the shelf. Atlanta had a shooting today but thankfully no one was hurt and suspect surrendered. But to think a 5 year old needs a bullet proof book bag to go to school these days is absolutely heart breaking.

@Briteeyes: How draconian are the gun laws down there? I should probably see what Herman Cain has to say about that one later this morning.

@Briteeyes: I think all schools should have trained officers and locks on the doors lol in Nashville some schools have metal detectors-Im all for it-but yes its sad it has come to this, tho I recall worrying about bein in a knife fight in high school and that was 25yrs ago..I think its availability of street guns-which I cannot fathom how to control with or without gun laws:(

@wa4: Anyone can have a gun as long as u have a license. But can easily get a gun off the street without a license. Some of our wal marts stopped selling guns and amo of any kind.

Even if there are gun laws it will put more guns in the hands of criminals. . And take them out the hands of law abiding citizens.

@IndianDreamer: In the next town over one of the high schools has metal detector and officers, but its cuz of the students bringing in weapons. My sons school has a guard that walks the hall way

@Briteeyes: Last year their were two groups of 'different ethnicities' who got into a fight @ high school here-they pulled out guns and knives-I kept my daughter outta school for a week-lots of parents did. My daughter saw the weapons-said they looked brand new...the oldest boy was 16:(
