Suppose to be no child left behind...if u don't have the grades to pass u just don't pass. Our schools require more and more every couple of years. GED just got harder last year too

I wld disagree...much of the blame lies with no child left behind laws. Again too much gov't interference! The "laws" take individual responsibility from the schools and in return from the teachers of those schools and take all ability to BE responsible from the parents and the kids are getting lost in politics!

The biggest problem in schools is the lack of personal accountibility....on the part of parents, kids, and teachers.....some parents dont give a shjt if their children dont give a shjt, and teachers start not giving a shjt.....Ill say this though, Id never want to be a teacher...my hats off to the good ones.

I wouldn't want my kids in a school where they prayed all the time. It is bad enough that I am already having to vet what the teachers are telling my kids. Might as well be paying for a babysitter as opposed to a teacher.

@Rambler: exactly! I only graduated eighth grade...but I feel like I am a fairly well educated person. The schools I went to valued rugged individualism and taught me HOW to learn...lessons I have and will continue to use all my life.

@YouCantFixStupid: Teaching someone how to learn is far more valuable than teaching to learn.

I couldn't agree more! That is what I meant by the no child left behind laws...they dictate rote learning of facts for test scores, facts that are forgotten by the next test, instead of an actual foundation of learning and applied reasoning and logic.
