Hi Folks,

I've been listening to all your feedback regarding our Pic Verification process during these past few weeks. The main issue I've noticed is that too many users are not following the Verification instructions correctly, so a lot of time is wasted by Verifiers on pics that have no chance of getting Verified. That, together with the fact that there is a limited number of fully-verified females willing and able to Verify male pics, has meant that male pics are taking a very long time to get verified.

So here's what I've done about it. First of all, I can see how the permanent status message at the top telling you your pic is in the process of getting verified that appears until your pic actually gets verified can be quite annoying if it takes several days to verify your pic. So now I've made it so it only appears once during each session just to remind you that your pic is still in the process.

Second, I've added a detailed confirmation screen after your upload your Verification Pic for the first time that makes you go through the same checks the Verifiers go through when verifying pics, so you will now have to confirm everything looks good before your pic is added to the verification queue. This should cut back greatly on the number of pics in the queue that did not follow the instructions, which should greatly improve the verification time for those who did follow the instructions correctly since there will be less pics for the Verifiers to go through.

It will take a few days for this change to make a difference in the queue because I've had to grandfather in all the pics currently in the queue, but any new verification pics uploaded from users who have never been verified before will need to be confirmed by the user before being added to the queue.

In order to not annoy users who have correctly followed the instructions in the past and who therefore obviously know how to do it correctly, we do not require previously-verified users to confirm their verification pics before being added to the queue.

For now, we won't penalize users who incorrectly confirm their own pic to be added to the queue, but if this problem persists even after these changes, then that is something I will have to consider in order to improve the Verification Process for those who are actually taking the time to follow the instructions correctly.

Please continue to post your feedback so I can continue to improve the Verification Process for everyone.

Thanks!

Hi again Folks,

I just finished going through the backlog of pics to be verified. Too many pics were getting verified as "Yes" where either the code or the faces were not crystal clear. I know we were more forgiving before, particularly with the backlog of pics to verify and user complaints, but now that that each user has to actually check and confirm they've followed all the instructions correctly before their pic is added to the verification queue, there is absolutely no excuse for anyone not to upload a perfectly visible Verification and Profile Pic.

Don't worry if any of you Verifiers got too many "Warnings" about incorrect verification votes as I've just given everyone another amnesty and reset everyone's strikes so you can all start with a clean slate.

Verifiers, if the verification code is not written in BIG BOLD LETTERS, and you can't make it out instantly, or if you have to squint around to read it, just vote "No". If you approve poor Verification Pics, then everyone will have to struggle to read it each and every time that user changes their Profile Pic, so all that wasted effort is compounded. You guys know how much of a relief it is to see a Verification Pic done well, so reward those who take the time to do you a favor by uploading a good Verification Pic, and don't reward those that don't.

Folks, there is really no excuse for not taking the time to help the Verifiers help you by making a super clear Verification Pic that will be used every time you change your profile pic. I've clarified the Upload Verification Pic instructions so that people also write their code in BOLD to make it clear to everyone.

Everyone should really be taking the time to take a super clear Verification Pic with an easily-readable code because it will be used each and every time you change your Profile Pic. If everyone did this, then everyone's pic would get approved a lot quicker, there would be less work for the Verifiers, and everybody wins. I can't stress this enough.

With these recent changes, the Verification Pic process should be a lot quicker now for everyone. I'm also considering adding a time-limit to get Verified, so that if you don't get verified in X days, then you will fail the verification because something is obviously not quite right with your pic. I'll first see how these recent changes play out.

Please continue to post your feedback about the Verification Process so that I can continue to improve it.

Thanks!

@Andres: Sounds like a great Idea to me, seemed as if a lot of codes were to hard to read or the profile pictures were taken too far away to clearly see the user face to tell if the verify code pic & profile pic matched.
