Hey,anyone tel me the reputation men in the USA military hav? Here in my country our men in uniform dont hav a gud repu.
Yes, the reputation of soldiers in the US is very good. They are one of the most respected servicemen in the US. However, they are less valued once they live as civilians. For many, it's like they become invisible and they really can struggle financially, physically, and emotionally. As far as dating and relationships, theyre also high on the dating/marriage list. Mostly, because they are a bit more disciplined and committed to certain responsibilities in their life. Unfortunately, along with such a great reputation, the stigma and pressures of life in the military can take its toll mentally and emotionally and sometimes...physically on a civilian relationship.

I can't sleep with my pistol by my bed anymore because i will be asleep and will have a flashback from iraq and i would grab my gun and point it at the doorway. its bad i hate it. its true its hard for our relationships because alot of people can't understand the struggles we go through everyday. We wasn't trained to kill for thrill we were trained to protect ourselves and our country's freedom. Some call us heartless killing machines but let me tell you something everything i did in iraq i an't happy with it haunts me everyday of my life. just thinking about it puts tears in my eyes but i knew i had to protect myself and the others but i still hate what i did. they got me on pills for ptsd (post tramatic stress disorer). but the us military is there when its needed. as long as that flag is flying we will be there to protect our country's rights and freedom.

@Sexycowboy94: Yes, I agree with you and have thought about how hard that balancing act of having to be a soldier and act civilly at the same time must be. I have much respect because I just couldnt do it with the same level of patriotism. I dont think our soldiers are killing machines or monsters at all. They do make mistakes out on the field but it's the inevitability of protecting yourselves, doing what youre instructed, and being in a fight or war environment. You are a very young soldier so it's amazing and I have to give you your props for seeking and accepting help for the trauma. I hope others do the same though if they are having a hard time. Having tools to help them does make a civilian relationship a lot better, especially if there are kids involved. Kids seem to be just as crazy about their fathers and mothers in service :p
