keep in mind the lighthearted nature of the thread though. Technically the Mayans(and all other "the end is nigh!" ppl made a huge numerical error, since this rocks been spinning not for 2012 years, but more like 4,000,000,000 years. O.o so how many times would 2012 pop up in that much time??

the mayans were only noting a galactic event. the alignment of the earth, sun, and the center of the galaxy. it happens every 26000 years and they figured out the date itll occur next. how? i have no clue lol. if anything, the gravitational pull between the three will strengthen and we will see alot more strong weather patterns and volcanic activity wich has the potential to destroy life on earth. its not doomsday, its humans thinking about thier own mortality and using fear as a way to explain things. remember..... we are NOTHING when it comes to the events in the universe. this world will end by mans own hands. wether it be biological or nuclear..... we will destroy ourselves. all it takes is ONE man in a position of power.

@PaulG7719: very, very f#cking well said. It is odd to me how these "primitive" civilizations like Mayans and Egyptians couuld do things back then, with their tech, that we cant even reproduce today.
