@JustMeAndYou77: ah yes.... but peter pan is not. but they made him mexican anyway. if disney turned dora into a little white girl or a black girl.... they would flip and call disney racist.... even though walt was an outspoken antisemite. disney would be forever defamed. i dont like that double standard. its ok if dora is mexican.... thats great. but why turn other characters that were never apart of that culture into something they arent? they would be in a sh*tfire hurry to bash us if we did the same. that isnt right. by "we" i mean the american companies.

Paul, Dora is Spanish. She even speaks in Spanish on the show. Why should there be a caucasian peter pan?lol I am African American. If I watch a predominantly Spanish program, I would expect the characters to also be in its Spanish form, even if it's also diversed.

@JustMeAndYou77: i can understand that. but as i said.... if we took dora, who is spanish, and made her a white girl then the target demographic would crusify us. but its ok for another demographic (non white) to take a character that is caucasion and do the exact same thing, but expect no one to bat an eye. thats the double standard im talkin about sweetness. "i can but you cant". its sickens me when this happens. if i tell a story thats originated from another culture and made the characters white.... that culture would throw me into the fire because i took away thier proud heritage. thats my meaning.

lol, Paul. Well, the reason the opposite would be true is because it's just ridiculous to not include another race of the same culture...speaking the same language with something like that. And, really when it comes to symbolism like peter pan, realistically, ya don't see many African American peter pans on a caucasian program. So, we just got to be real about that one lol. However, in Dora's case, she is Spanish and it includes an entirely different language and also Spanish culture. They are actually appreciating Peter Pan in their way, which is an appreciation of American culture and fantasy. I don't think you should take it so seriously really. This is what happened to Barney and almost Big Bird. Will when the madness stop? Who will get axed next? The muppets?lol

honestly i think i have never seen a black peter pan lmao!
its not so much that they used peter and changed his entire ethnicity, but more the fact that they disregard caucasian heritage constantly and become the victim when its done to them. its telling me and my children that our heritage is less than thiers. i dont begrudge anyone thier culture or heritage, but im seeing more and more that mine is degraded and considered less than what it is. you know me hun, im all about equality and fairness.

Yes, of course I know you don't mean this in racism terms Paul. But, you've got to be careful how you consider these kinds of things. You always have racists ready to take a little racial indifference to its extreme. I totally understand, but caucasions are in no way left out as far as media is concerned lol There is no reason to fight for inclusiveness. It will always be an obvious thing. I think it's great you are exposing your children to other cultures and language though and letting them watch a program that is positive and does this. Imagine if racists unplug the entire show. They will not have access to diversity at all. If it's a Spanish themed program, no one should force them to turn it into something other than that. There are lots of other shows that will cater more to the idea. And...LOL at the black peter pan. I was pretty shocked when the princess and the frog came out. I would probably faint if a black peter pan hit the screen and it includes other races and hits it big.
